Van Basten praises Finnbogason; Nurnberg interested in Breno

SC Heerenveen manager Marco van Basten has put Iceland international striker Alfred Finnbogason in the same category of strikers as Ruud van Nistelrooy, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Jon Dahl Tomasson, .

Finnbogason, 24, is reportedly attracting interest from a number of clubs in the English Premier League, including the likes of Aston Villa, Everton, Sunderland and West Ham United.

Furthermore, reports in Italy have suggested that Marco van Basten has alerted Serie A giants AC Milan about Finnbogason.

The agent of Finnbogason has recently confirmed English interest in his client, while insisting Heerenveen have not held talks with any other clubs regarding the future of the Iceland international.

The 24-year-old, who is currently valued at around £5million, has been on scintillating form for Heerenveen this season after joining the Dutch Eredivisie side on a three-year deal from Jupiler Pro League side K.S.C. Lokeren Oost-Vlaanderen in August 2012.

I put Finnbogason in the category of strikers like Ruud van Nistelrooy, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Jon Dahl Tomasson, Van Basten is quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror. All started their career at Heerenveen.

Finnbogason could become a fabulous striker. He has fantastic vision, an eye for goals and is of massive value to this club.

Finnbogason is currently the second top goal scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie with 24 goals, six behind Côte d’Ivoire international Wilfried Bony of Vitesse Arnhem.

Nurnberg interested in Breno

1. FC Nurnberg would be interested in signing former Bayern Munich defender Breno should he be released from prison this summer, .

Breno, 23, is currently serving a 45-month prison term for arson after being convicted of burning down his own home in Munich in September 2011.

However, recent reports in German weekly news magazine Focus are suggesting he may be given early release later this year.

We would love to help Breno, said Bader. He is a great lad with a super character, and it would also make sense for us since we would be getting a good central defender.

In 2010, Breno made seven league starts for Nurnberg while on loan at the Grundig-Stadion.

The 23-year-old, who signed a three-year deal with Brasileiro Série A side São Paulo FC last year, has made 32 appearances across all competitions for Bayern Munich since making his Bundesliga debut against VfL Wolfsburg on 4 May 2008.

Breno was a member of the Bronze medal winning Brazil Under-23 team, captained by Ronaldinho, at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
