Successful knee surgery for Wilshere

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere had surgery on his left knee in Sweden on Tuesday, with the club confirming the operation was a success.

The 20-year-old will return to England to continue his rehabilitation with the

English Premier League side, and is expected to be training before the start of

next season.

Wilshere established himself as a key member of Arsene Wenger s side during the

2010/11 campaign, scoring three times in 49 appearances.

However, he missed the whole of the following season with an injury to his

right ankle and suffered a number of setbacks.

Wilshere s chances of featuring in England s Euro 2012 squad or Team GB s

Olympic squad were dashed by his injury setbacks.
