Liverpool want to emulate Man City dominance – Henderson

Jordan Henderson wants to see Liverpool emulate Manchester City and start winning multiple trophies every season.

Liverpool face Tottenham in the Champions League final in Madrid on Saturday looking to secure their first piece of silverware since 2012.

City claimed a domestic treble this season, including the Premier League, a campaign after winning two trophies.

Henderson, whose side were beaten in last season s Champions League final, is eager to see Jurgen Klopp s men become similarly successful.

City have won three trophies this year, and that s where we want to be, the Liverpool captain told UK newspapers, via The Guardian.

We don t want to be going for just one cup or title, we want to be winning more and more each year.

Real Madrid v Manchester City: Pellegrini eyes away goal as Zidane hopes for Ronaldo

Manuel Pellegrini says Manchester City will have a different attitude than Real Madrid showed in the first leg when they travel to Santiago Bernabeu, with the hosts hoping star man Cristiano Ronaldo will be passed fit to play.

The 0-0 draw in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at the Etihad Stadium which Ronaldo missed with a hamstring injury has the tie evenly poised as the two teams meet on Wednesday bidding to reach the final in Milan.

Madrid are looking to make what would be their 14th final in Europe s elite club competition, while City have already broken new ground in the tournament this season by making it past the last-16 for the first time. Their only continental final was the Cup Winners Cup final win over Gornik Zabrze in 1970.

Rooney in serious DC United talks – report

Wayne Rooney is in advanced talks over a transfer from Everton to DC United, claims the Washington Post.

England s record goalscorer has reportedly been speaking with the MLS side for a number of weeks and it is said the club are positive about a deal. DC United have not responded to a request for comment.

Rooney is Everton s top scorer this season with 11 goals in all competitions, but he has not scored in the Premier League since December.

Last month, he was forced to deny a rift with manager Sam Allardyce, who has come in for significant criticism from fans despite guiding the team away from the relegation zone since taking over from Ronald Koeman as manager in November.

On Tuesday, Allardyce insisted it would take a massive bid to tempt Everton to sel…

Alvarez to make call on Man City future after Olympics

Manchester City attacker Julian Alvarez will not make a decision on his future before Argentina s Olympics campaign is over.

Alvarez has been a useful member of Pep Guardiola s squad over the past two seasons.

However, with Erling Haaland the clear first-choice striker, Alvarez has often had to deputise in an attacking midfield role, particularly as cover for Kevin De Bruyne.

The 24-year-old, who is representing Argentina at the Paris Olympics after he helped his country win the Copa America earlier this summer, is reportedly drawing interest from Atletico Madrid, but he has not yet made a decision on whether he wishes to leave City.

There is a lot of talk, said Alvarez ahead of Argentina’s clash with Ukraine.

I’d give my other ACL for England to win the World Cup – Leah Williamson

“I’d give my other ACL for England to win the World Cup,” she said. “That’s what I’ll believe in until it isn’t (possible).”

If the Lionesses can win the World Cup for the first time, they will build on the incredible legacy created by winning the European Championship last summer.

That victory on home soil has seen participation numbers of young girls playing the game rise, but there is still a way to go.

TOCA Social’s ‘Momentum’ campaign will see the venue – based at London’s O2 – allocate a set number of playing boxes for women to play as well as a dedicated ‘women’s hour’ in the hope of bringing a minimum of 50,000 women through the doors to participate in the game through both playing and watching football.

Pirlo, Baggio, Inzaghi – the best XI to play for Juventus and AC Milan

One of the transfer window s most complex deals has reached a successful conclusion, with Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia Caldara joining AC Milan and Leonardo Bonucci returning to Juventus.

Italy s two most successful clubs do not always see eye-to-eye, but the agreement involving this trio could end up being one of the most mutually successful pieces of business they have done.

It also means Higuain and Caldara will join a surprisingly substantial list of players to reside on the books of both clubs, stretching way back into the early part of last century.

In honour of the deal being done, we present an all-time best XI comprising footballers to wear the famous Bianconeri and Rossoneri jerseys. And we think it would be pretty good

Cristiano Ronaldo sets record for Champions League final goals

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored in more Champions League finals than any other player after netting against Juventus.

The Real Madrid forward put the LaLiga champions ahead in Cardiff with a low, first-time strike after a cutback from Dani Carvajal 20 minutes into Saturday s match in Cardiff.

That was the third Champions League final in which Ronaldo has scored, a mark unmatched in the world game.

The two other finals in which Ronaldo scored were the 2008 showpiece in which Manchester United defeated Chelsea on penalties and the 2014 final for Madrid against city rivals Atletico, which his side won 4-1 after extra time.

Salah: Time to leave Liverpool? We´ll see what happens

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah refused to rule out an Anfield exit as he hinted at a move to LaLiga amid links to Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Salah is contracted to Premier League champions Liverpool until 2023, but his future has become a talking point having previously refused to dismiss the prospect of joining Madrid or Barca in an interview with Diario AS in December.

The Egypt international has been a revelation since leaving Serie A outfit Roma for Liverpool in 2017, spearheading the Reds to Champions League and Premier League glory.

As Liverpool prepare to face Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, with the opening leg on April 6, Salah was asked about his future.

Preparations for the weekend trip to Arsenal have begun at the Training Centre…

Gundogan and Neuer criticism can galvanise Germany – Havertz

Kai Havertz believes Ilkay Gundogan and Manuel Neuer s criticism of Germany s performance against Japan can spur them on in Sunday s do-or-die meeting with Spain.

Germany lost their opening World Cup game for just the third time (W13 D4) on Wednesday as Bundesliga duo Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano came off the bench to fire Japan to a shock 2-1 win.

Captain Neuer lamented Germany s failure to put the game to bed after the defeat, while Gundogan said Asano s goal was one of the most straightforward ever scored at a World Cup.

The shock result leaves Germany facing consecutive World Cup group-stage exits ahead of their meeting with Spain – who are favourites to top Group E after thrashing Costa Rica 7-0.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Havertz ins…

Kane loves Tottenham, Champions League not a deal-breaker – Mason

Harry Kane loves Tottenham and there is no suggestion he needs Champions League football in order to remain with the club, according to interim boss Ryan Mason.

Rumours over the club s star striker have been rife amid another disappointing season for Spurs, whose last hope of silverware vanished with Sunday s EFL Cup final loss to Manchester City.

Kane is the leading goalscorer in the Premier League this season with 21 from 30 games, and his 125-minutes-per-goal ratio better than he has achieved in the previous two similarly prolific top-flight campaigns.

The England captain was named Premier League player of the year at the London Football Awards on Tuesday but pointedly said trophies were more important than individual honours.
